LOST AND FOUND

WAG operates a lost and found call center in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor to reunite owners with their lost pets.

To report a lost or found animal call WAG at 604-935-8364.

Tips if you have lost your pet:

  1. Alert WAG. Provide us with a full description of your pet. We will keep a record of your pet’s disappearance on file and make every attempt to find your pet.

  2. Alert the local Veterinary Clinics

  3. Put up posters in your community and include a picture of your pet

  4. Canvas your neighbours. They may have taken in a cat begging on their doorstep!

  5. Alert the Whistler bylaw Service. Call 604-935-8280

WAG receives hundreds of lost animal reports every year. If you find your pet please notify us. If you are still looking for a lost pet keep checking back with us periodically.

Tips to prevent losing your pet:

  1. Ensure that your cat is wearing a collar and ID tag displaying its name and your phone number at all times.

  2. Ensure that your dog is licensed and is wearing his/her municipal dog tag.

  3. Have your pet microchipped or tatooed

  4. Be sure to inform the municipality of any change in address or phone number

  5. Always keep your dog on a leash

  6. Have your pet spayed or neutered. A spayed or neutered pet is less likely to roam. Plus, they will not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem and thus crowding at the WAG shelter.

  7. Use a carrier when transporting your cat. Cats may respond to loud noises or unfamiliar surroundings by jumping from your arms.

  8. Check to see where your pet is each time you leave home and when you go to bed.

  9. Be attentive to your pet when opening and closing doors, particularly when there is company around. Pets may become stressed and dart out an open door.

  10. If you are leaving your pet with a pet-sitter, ensure that person is responsible and understands the importance of proper supervision.

  11. Keep your pet indoors during events where firecrackers are commonly set off such as New Years, Canada Day, and Halloween. Animals can become frightened by the loud noises and run away as a result.
